This decline persists despite the continued strong performance of the Asterix series, which sells approximately 1.6 million copies per new release. The 41st Asterix volume, 'Asterix en Lusitanie,' written by Fabcaro and illustrated by Didier Conrad, was published on October 23, 2025. Historically, the market fluctuated based on the biennial release of new Asterix albums, but even these high sales no longer boost the broader industry. The publisher Éditions Albert René, fully owned by Hachette Livre since 2011, releases the series.
