Freddie Mercury's Iconic Costumes Go on Free Display Across V&A South Kensington
From 24 October 2026 to 17 January 2027, the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) in London will present a complimentary exhibition titled 'Freddie Mercury | Splendid Things,' showcasing a selection of Freddie Mercury's costumes and accessories. This exhibit features eight iconic outfits, including the 'Mercury Wing' catsuit from the 'Bohemian Rhapsody' music video, as well as the crown and cloak worn during Queen's last tour. Curated in collaboration with Mary Austin, Mercury's former fiancée, the display includes seven outfits on loan and one from the V&A's own collection, highlighting styles from the 1970s and 80s. Theatrical installations designed by Tom Piper enhance the experience, commemorating Mercury's legacy in the year he would have turned 80.
