Frankfurter Allgemeine and Thalia Launch Digital Book Club for Hannah Häffner's Novel 'Die Riesinnen'

The Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung, in collaboration with the bookstore chain Thalia, have initiated a new phase of their 'Gemeinsam lesen' (Reading Together) project. This installment focuses on Hannah Häffner's novel 'Die Riesinnen,' published by Penguin Verlag. The book tells the story of three generations of women from the Riessberger family in a small Black Forest village, exploring themes of home, belonging, and displacement. Häffner, born in Heidelberg in 1985 and now living near Stuttgart, previously authored crime novels set by the North and Baltic Seas. 'Die Riesinnen' has been on bestseller lists for weeks. The digital Book Circle on Thalia's platform allows readers to discuss the novel online. A concluding event with the author is scheduled for May 26 at the Thalia bookstore on Tauentzienstraße in Berlin, moderated by Anna Vollmer and Tobias Rüther from the F.A.S. feuilleton. The project aims to engage readers in examining literary questions about roots and identity, building on a previous collaboration that featured Leïla Slimani's work.
