Franco Fornari's Innovative Psychoanalytic Theories Explored in New Feltrinelli Volume

The latest volume in the Feltrinelli series 'Eredi' focuses on the human and professional journey of Franco Fornari, a psychoanalyst who challenged several of Freud's theories. Authored by Alfio Maggiolini, the book highlights Fornari's innovative and revolutionary spirit. A key example is his theory of affective codes, an evolution of the coenematic theory developed late in his life, which was unfortunately interrupted by his premature death in 1985. This novel reflection emerged from a long research path that, starting from an adherence to Melanie Klein's thought, passed through a revision of Freud's work, integrated aspects of Wilfred Bion's thinking, and engaged with Jacques Lacan's theory. The volume also emphasizes the centrality Fornari gave to the social dimension of the unconscious, beyond the analytic setting.
