Francesca Casadio Appointed Director of Getty Conservation Institute

Francesca Casadio, born in Turin in 1972, has been named the new director of the Getty Conservation Institute (GCI), effective early autumn. The J. Paul Getty Trust announced the appointment. Casadio holds a degree and PhD in Chemistry from the University of Milan and previously worked at Imperial College London. She began her US career at GCI in 2002 as a fellow in historic architecture conservation. In 2003, she joined the Art Institute of Chicago, where she spent over twenty years, ultimately becoming Vice President and Grainger Executive Director of Conservation and Science. There, she established the Grainger Center for Conservation and Science, a leading research hub. GCI, founded in 1985 and part of the J. Paul Getty Trust, is based at the Getty Center in Los Angeles and focuses on research, training, and innovative strategies for cultural heritage preservation worldwide.
