France's New Visual Arts Employers' Union SEDAV Launches First Membership Drive

institutional · 2026-10-20

In March 2026, the Syndicat Employeur des Arts Visuels (SEDAV) was officially established and initiated its inaugural membership drive in mid-October 2026, focusing on employers in the visual arts sector. This initiative emerged from the "GT Syndicat" within CIPAC, which was formed in 2023 and received unanimous approval during a CIPAC assembly in October 2024. Under the leadership of President Ludovic Julié, SEDAV aims to engage organizations for recognition in the Ministry of Labour's evaluation cycle for 2025-2028. The syndicate is pursuing a collective agreement to enhance working conditions and standardize HR policies, while avoiding the establishment of a new convention. Currently, galleries, represented by the CPGA, operate under a non-food retail agreement. A communications initiative will leverage INSEE's updated nomenclature starting January 1, 2027, to improve outreach efforts.
