FRAGILITY Exhibition Explores Life-Death Duality Through Contemporary Art in Oleggio

SPA | Spazio Per Arte in Oleggio, Italy, is presenting the group exhibition "FRAGILITY – The Dance of Life and Death," curated by Domenico de Chirico and Rischa Paterlini. The show, installed at Palazzo Bellini, examines the interplay between creative and destructive forces through a quiet dialogue among artworks. According to the curators and space owners Laura and Luigi Giordano, the exhibition investigates the fragile balance between generative impulses and inevitable dissolution, using art as a language to express instability and vulnerability as fundamental existential conditions. The exhibition features works from multiple collections, including the Giordanos' private holdings, the Ettore Molinario Collection from Milan, and loans from archives like the Association Man Ray in Paris and directly from artists. Notable participants include Pawel Althamer, Jacopo Benassi, Giulia Cenci, Isabelle Cornaro, Enrico David, Binta Diaw, Rainer Fetting, Gina Folly, Klara Hosnedlová, Anselm Kiefer, Kresiah Mukwazhi, Herman Nitsch, Philippe Parreno, Nora Turato, and Joanna Wos. Specific works highlighted include Kiefer's 1996 sand-page volume, Turato's 2020 cigarette-pack piece questioning contemporary enjoyment, Nitsch's 1990 painting, Folly's 2016 glass sculpture, and Parreno's 2018 immersive installation "Fade to Black." The exhibition aims to present fragility not as weakness but as a precious, meaningful condition, inviting viewers to perceive the complementary coexistence of Eros and Thanatos in contemporary existence. It runs from November 22, 2025, to July 4, 2026, at Piazza Martiri della Libertà, 10, in Oleggio.
