Fotografiska Opens Fifth Chinese Site in Shenzhen, Expanding Hybrid Museum Model
Fotografiska has launched its fifth location in China at the Shenzhen Bay MIXC shopping center, following its introduction in Shanghai earlier in 2023. The Swedish organization also has establishments in Stockholm, Berlin, and Tallinn. Christian Devillers, who leads the Chinese division, mentioned that a market analysis in Hong Kong influenced the decision to select Shenzhen. The funding for this project is provided by China Resources Land (51%) and the Nanshan district government (49%). This venue includes a restaurant, a concept store, and 5,300 m² dedicated to exhibitions, featuring annual photography displays and workshops. Founded in 2010 by Jan and Per Broman, Fotografiska began its global expansion in 2019. The New York location closed in September 2024.
