Fondation Opale presents 'Racines' exhibition bridging contemporary and Indigenous art until April 12

The exhibition 'Racines' at Fondation Opale in Lens, Switzerland, curated by art historian Samuel Gross, showcases the collection of Garance Primat, drawing connections between contemporary Western artists and Indigenous art traditions. It features works by Niki de Saint Phalle, Louise Bourgeois, Kiki Smith, and Sheila Hicks, alongside Aboriginal artists Sally Gabori, Emily Kam Kngwarreye, and Keith Stevens, as well as pieces by Sol LeWitt, Giuseppe Penone, and Jivya soma Mashe. The show, open until April 12, 2026, is accompanied by a publication from Cinq Continents Éditions. Garance Primat, inspired by her sister Bérengère Primat's passion for Aboriginal art, describes the collection as revealing a common thread of inner exploration. The exhibition aims to transcend artificial categories like art versus science and nature versus culture, offering a poetic wandering through diverse cultural horizons.
