Fondation Beyeler Unveils £109.7m Peter Zumthor Expansion in Basel

This weekend, the Fondation Beyeler in Basel, Switzerland, unveils new facilities, investing approximately SFr 120m (£109.7m) in three designs by architect Peter Zumthor. The Wyss building, named in honor of billionaire Hansjörg Wyss, contributes an additional 1,500 sq. m of exhibition space to the existing 3,800 sq. m from the 1997 Renzo Piano structure. The Ammann Pavilion, backed by art dealers Thomas and Doris Ammann, provides a venue for recitals and visitors. The Erlen Torhaus introduces office space to the 18th-century villa. The parkland has expanded to nearly 20,000 sq. m, showcasing works by Rachel Whiteread and Louise Bourgeois. The exhibition Constellations, running until 5 September 2027, features 150 Modern and contemporary pieces, with the inauguration period set from 26 September to 14 January 2027.
