Floryan Varennes Presents 'Even Spectres Can Tire' at Xxijra Hii in London

Floryan Varennes is set to unveil his inaugural solo exhibition outside of France, titled 'Even Spectres Can Tire,' at the Xxijra Hii gallery in London, running from 14 March to 18 April 2026. Born in La Rochelle in 1988 and currently based in Nantes and Paris, the French artist produces sculptures and installations that intertwine medieval themes with modern medical technology. Notable pieces include the Pixie series—sandblasted PVC panels with steel supports and medical tubing resembling vacant orthotic suits—and the Ark, a cocoon-like structure crafted from PVC and steel. Additionally, four Spike works, fashioned from glass and stainless steel in the shape of ears, evoke memories of wartime trophies and dismembered organs. The exhibition also features scattered lavender drifts called Millefleurs, offering a natural contrast to the industrial elements. It delves into themes of care systems, prosthetic architecture, and suspended bodies, with the industrial setting of the Deptford gallery enhancing the narrative.
