Florian Krewer's First French Solo Exhibition at Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris
The Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris presents 'Florian Krewer: woven thin*', the artist's first solo exhibition in France. Following a donation of several works to the museum, the show is integrated into the permanent collection galleries and features around fifteen monumental recent canvases, some never before exhibited. Krewer's practice is deeply autobiographical, drawing on lived experience and imagination, depicting dancers, performers, animals, and solitary figures in ethereal urban landscapes. The works celebrate intimacy and collective resilience amid hostile environments. Krewer (b. 1986, Gerolstein, Germany) studied painting at Kunstakademie Düsseldorf under Peter Doig. Recent institutional exhibitions include 'Nice Dog' at M WOODS Museum, Beijing (2023); 'everybody rise' at Aspen Art Museum (2023); and 'Es liebt Dich und Deine Körperlichkeit ein Verwirrter' at Kunsthalle Düsseldorf (2022). His works are held in collections of Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris; Centre Pompidou, Paris; Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Hammer Museum, Los Angeles; LACMA; and Albertina Museum, Vienna. In 2022, he received the Prix Jean-François Prat from the Bredin Prat endowment fund. He lives and works in the South Bronx, New York. A catalogue published by Galerie Gordon VeneKlasen is scheduled for October 2026. The exhibition is supported by Arif and Dianne Suherman and The Kiki Collection.
