Five London Exhibitions Spanning Syrian Heritage Loss to Playful Ceramics

Hrair Sarkissian's installation at Ibraaz presents 48 plinths displaying images of artifacts looted from the Raqqa Museum in Northern Syria by the so-called Islamic State, with the museum's collection reduced from 8,000 to 880 objects; this haunting presentation continues until 24th May. At the Estorick Collection of Modern Italian Art, vibrant chairs and sculptures by designer and architect Alessandro Mendini offer a colorful spring exhibition through 10th May. Michael Raedecker's mixed-media works at Grimm Gallery, combining print, painting, and stitching, depict cars and billboards enveloped by nature until 18th April. Erwin Wurm's subversive humor is on display at Camden Art Projects, where plants wear trousers and visitors create one-minute sculptures until 26th April. A group show titled Mood Swings at Norito, curated by Teaspoon Projects, features ceramic cats and sparkly objects inspired by Britney Spears, running until 22nd April. All five exhibitions are currently on view in London, selected by critic Tabish Khan.
