Five Experimental Photography Exhibitions Featuring Historical and Contemporary Artists

Five exhibitions showcasing experimental photography are currently on view or opening in March. The shows feature both 20th century pioneers and contemporary artists who explore light, color, and photographic processes. Liz Nielsen presents abstract color works created through light exposures at Joseloff Gallery until April 11. The Metropolitan Museum of Art hosts a retrospective of Lillian Bassman's fashion photography and editorial designs until July 26. Garry Fabian Miller exhibits camera-less photographs made from garden materials at Kestle Barton starting March 28. Alison Rossiter develops expired photographic papers at Yossi Milo until March 14. Ester Vonplon documents Swiss landscapes using photogram techniques at Fotomuseum Winterthur until June 14.
