First person vaccinated in UK trial of new Ebola jab targeting Bundibugyo strain

On Friday, a 37-year-old volunteer named Ed Hunt received the initial dose of a swiftly developed vaccine aimed at the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola in Oxford, as reported by Oxford University. This vaccine, known as ChAdOx1 BDBV, employs the same technology utilized in AstraZeneca's Covid-19 vaccine. Since May, the outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda has claimed more than 1,000 lives. David Pulido-Gomez from Oxford's Pandemic Sciences Institute highlighted that the vaccine progressed from idea to clinical trial in just eight weeks, emphasizing the remarkable teamwork involved in this achievement.
