First Full-Scale Charley Harper Retrospective Set for Cincinnati Art Museum

The Cincinnati Art Museum is gearing up to launch its first-ever major exhibition dedicated to Charley Harper, a famous local artist. Titled 'The Art of Charley Harper: Creatures Wild and Tame,' this exhibit will run from October 16, 2026, to March 7, 2027, and will showcase about 150 works from the mid-century modern artist who was also known for his illustration and nature advocacy. In partnership with the Charley Harper Art Studio, Brett Harper, the studio's director, highlighted that this is the artist's first museum retrospective, calling it a 'special, historic treat.' The exhibit will also feature ten large paintings commissioned by the U.S. National Park Service, which were displayed in Washington, D.C., in the 1990s.
