Fiona Connor's second exhibition at Maureen Paley explores urban loss through architectural reproductions

The Los Angeles-based artist engages in an ongoing archival project by crafting precise replicas of doors from abandoned nightclubs. Connor's artwork delves into the unnoticed architectural details and peripheral forms found in spaces of interaction and communication. In a statement from 2019, she articulated that her creative process demands an obsession, involving drawing, mapping, and utilizing various tools to transform objects. The exhibition, located at 4 Herald Street, continues her exploration of urban loss through careful reproduction of architectural fragments, infusing familiar items with "a different sort of heat" than their originals.
