Fifth-generation BMW X5 debuts with five powertrain options
BMW has unveiled the fifth-generation X5, the first model engineered to support five drive systems: BEV, PHEV, diesel, petrol, and hydrogen. The iX5 pure EV offers up to 525 miles WLTP range and 460 kW DC charging. All variants adopt the Neue Klasse design language with compact kidney grille, double-X daytime running lights, Winglet door handles, and optional power-operated doors. Inside, the Panoramic iDrive ribbon display and optional Passenger Screen feature. The BMW X5 M60e xDrive plug-in hybrid produces 612 hp, reaching 0-62 mph in 4.5 seconds. Driver assistance includes optional Motorway Assistant for hands-free Level 2 driving with automated lane changes. UK market launch is Spring 2027.
