Ferrari 849 Testarossa Spider: Hybrid V8 Roadster Launches in Tenerife

other · 2026-07-15

Ferrari has launched the 849 Testarossa Spider in Tenerife, months after the hard-top version debuted on Seville's Monteblanco circuit. The Spider shares the same hybrid powertrain as the coupé: a twin-turbo V8 producing 830hp combined with three electric motors delivering 220hp, for a total of 1050hp. It can reach 100km/h in 2.25 seconds. The folding hardtop operates in 14 seconds at speeds up to 45km/h and adds about 90kg. The Spider features a compact roof mechanism that stows flat on the rear deck. Ferrari expects more customers to opt for the Spider due to the enhanced sound and attention. The launch follows Ferrari's first EV, the Luce, which sparked controversy among traditionalists. The Testarossa's design is described as aggressively idiosyncratic, with vertical slashes and prominent air intakes. New tyres were developed in partnership with Pirelli, Bridgestone, and Michelin. The Assetto Fiorano specification offers enhanced aerodynamics and reduced weight at higher cost. The Spider's cockpit returns to physical steering wheel buttons after capacitive switches. Pricing starts at £442,467.
