Fernando Méndez-Leite reelected president of Spain's Film Academy

Fernando Méndez-Leite, a film director, screenwriter, writer, and critic, has been reelected president of the Academia de Cine (Spain's Film Academy) for a second term. He ran as the sole candidate and was confirmed during the Ordinary General Assembly held at Teatro La Latina in Madrid. The ticket, which includes producer Félix Tusell as first vice president and actress Ángela Cervantes as second vice president, received 858 votes, the highest support in the Academy's history. Méndez-Leite stated he sought reelection to continue his modernization program for the institution.
