Fender ELIE 6 Bluetooth Speaker Review: Portable Amp Hybrid Lacks App, Promises Future Updates

Fender debuted its first in-house Bluetooth speakers at CES 2026, entering the portable audio market. The ELIE 6 model, tested over several weeks, functions as both a Bluetooth speaker and a portable amplifier for instruments like guitars and microphones. It features a three-way driver system delivering 60 watts of power, housed in a 7.7 x 4.8 x 4.1 inch frame weighing 4 pounds with IP54 dust and water resistance. Design elements include a minimalist industrial frame, a rotating metal handle, a real cedar block top panel, and analog volume dials that control both speaker and amplifier modes. Inputs on the back include a USB port, microphone/instrument input, headphone output, and a 48-volt phantom power key for studio microphones. Battery life reaches up to 18 hours. However, Fender currently offers no controller app for basic functions like EQ or effects such as guitar distortion, though the company promises an app with features like EQ and plug-ins for Q2 or Q3 later this year. The speaker is available for preorder. Sound quality impressed with powerful bass and clear tones across genres, from Bruno Mars's album 'The Romantic' to Tom Petty's 'Wildflowers', though the tweeter can sometimes overwhelm vocals. Compared to rivals like the Positive Grid Spark Mini, the ELIE 6 lacks digital processing capabilities. Fender's new flagship store in Tokyo showcases the brand's broader resurgence.
