Fatima Daas Launches Second Novel 'Spiel das Spiel' with German Reading Tour

French author Fatima Daas is presenting her second novel 'Spiel das Spiel' through a four-city reading tour across Germany in April 2025. The novel follows protagonist Kayden navigating rigid systems while seeking her place, exploring themes of institutional imbalance, solidarity, racism, and social mobility. Daas critiques systems with lightness, depicting everyday life and diversity at society's margins while questioning upward mobility models that ignore diverse realities. Her debut novel 'Die jüngste Tochter' examined her Algerian heritage, French life, Muslim faith, and homosexuality, winning the Internationaler Literaturpreis and being adapted into a film by Hafsia Herzi shown at Cannes in 2025. Born in France in 1995, Daas gained recognition for her literary exploration of identity. The reading tour includes Berlin's Institut français on April 20, Karlsruhe's Kulturzentrum kohi on April 21, Düsseldorf's Institut français on April 22, and Bonn's Institut français on April 23. The novel centers on Kayden's talent for observation and her complex relationship with teacher Madame Fontaine, who recognizes her potential for elite education at Sciences Po.
