Fathi Hassan exhibition at Paul Mellon Centre from June 2026

exhibition · 2026-06-06

From June 4, 2026, to January 31, 2027, the Sunderland Collection will collaborate with the Paul Mellon Centre to host a solo exhibition featuring the works of Fathi Hassan. Curated by Beth Greenacre as part of the Sunderland Collection Art Programme, the exhibition will take place in the Centre’s Grade II listed spaces. It delves into subjects such as history, memory, colonialism, displacement, and cartography. The display will showcase a blend of photography, drawing, and mixed media, highlighting key pieces from Hassan’s 'Shifting Sands' series, which was inspired by the Sunderland Collection. Both organizations prioritize artist-led exploration to foster new insights and connect contemporary art with historical scholarship.
