Ex nightclub Tuxedo in Turin becomes contemporary art hub for Galleria Umberto Benappi

The historic Tuxedo nightclub in Turin's San Salvario district, at Via Belfiore 8, will be transformed into the new headquarters of Galleria Umberto Benappi. Renovation begins in weeks, with an inauguration planned for mid-September 2026, coinciding with TAG – Torino Art Galleries Ouverture or shortly after, in time for Artissima fair. The space, a nightlife landmark for over 40 years since the 1970s, will become a multidisciplinary cultural center hosting exhibitions, performances, concerts, film screenings, theater, and editorial presentations. A membership program will offer weekly appointments, previews, and exclusive events to build a community. The project is dedicated to Umberto's father Mario Benappi, who recently passed away. Simultaneously, the gallery is expanding to Sansicario Alto with a new 160-square-meter space, opening with the group show 'Non è il quadro che vorrei,' supported by Gian Enzo Sperone, featuring emerging and established artists. The creative support for the mountain venue comes from Riccardo Pietrantonio.
