Eva & Franco Mattes' RAGE BAIT exhibition in Venice explores AI and internet outrage culture

Opening May 6, 2026, the exhibition RAGE BAIT by Italian artist duo Eva & Franco Mattes will be presented by Autotelic Foundation across two Venetian venues. The show features new works in installation, video, and generative AI formats. Its title references the internet slang term 'rage bait,' describing content designed to provoke emotional outrage before rational thought can intervene. The exhibition examines how rage bait represents the logical conclusion of platforms optimized for user engagement. Eva & Franco Mattes have spent more than two decades investigating the gaps and contradictions of networked existence, influencing two generations of artists. The exhibition will run concurrently with the Venice Biennale 2026 at Palazzo Franchetti with views of the Grand Canal and at Le Cabanon, a private swimming pool on Giudecca.
