Eva Dixon's 'Little Lady' Installation at PORTALS Reimagines Space Race History

PORTALS presents Eva Dixon's sculptural installation 'Little Lady' from March 18 to 27, 2026, at Spitalfields Market in London. The work transforms a K67 kiosk into a re-entry capsule and parachute, referencing the Mercury 13 women pilots who were excluded from space missions in the 1960s. Curated by James Marshall, this public art piece offers a feminist reinterpretation of historical narratives about ambition and exclusion during the space race. The installation follows Judy Maxwell-McNicol's previous work at the same venue, continuing PORTALS' program of accessible urban art.
