Ethereum Foundation Conducts $10.2 Million Private Token Sale to Institutional Buyer
The Ethereum Foundation has transferred 5,000 ETH to BitMine Immersion Technologies through a private over-the-counter transaction valued at $10.2 million. This marks the second instance where the foundation has sold cryptocurrency directly to a publicly traded company holding Ethereum in its treasury. Proceeds from the sale will support the foundation's operational costs and development projects, including protocol research and ecosystem grants. The transaction was structured to avoid market volatility by keeping the assets off public exchanges. BitMine, chaired by Fundstrat co-founder Tom Lee, has been accumulating Ethereum since mid-2025 and now holds the largest corporate treasury of the cryptocurrency globally.
