ERL Launches Womenswear with Prep-Infused Spring 2027 Collection

other · 2026-06-27

Eli Russell Linnetz, founder of the brand ERL, introduced his first womenswear line for Spring 2027, presented in Paris. The collection was inspired by a fictional narrative of a surprise trip to Martha’s Vineyard, where he encountered a WASPy family, infusing his signature Venice Beach aesthetic with erotic prep. Key pieces included translucent nighties, beach cover-ups, and filmy chiffon slip dresses in pinks with vintage prints, patchwork, ombré dye, or chintzy florals, often worn over bikinis or nothing. Many garments were made from upcycled materials; one crocheted slip was more air than thread, and a triple-layered floral chiffon dress had a blurry quality. The palette ranged from rose to Barbie pink, described as almost sickly garish. The collection also featured tailored elements for the mother character, and for the son, beat-up polo shirts, papery T-shirts with faded graphics, cropped plaid shirting, and hokey Hawaiian florals. More exuberant pieces included a pom-pom shrug, nylon jacket with wave print, bleach-splattered cargo pants, crocodile skin jacket, and intentionally tacky plaid tailoring. Linnetz, who is also working on a film, stated he is more interested in characters and storylines than clothes, despite obsessing over details.
