Eremuak Opens Call for 2026 Quadrennial Exhibition

exhibition · 2026-06-24

Eremuak has announced an open call for its upcoming fourth Quadrennial Exhibition, set to take place in October 2026 at Guata Kultur Fabrika in Zalla-Aranguren, Spain. This initiative, which began in 2010, aims to discover contemporary art practices and encourage discussion. Past exhibitions have included "First Thought Best" (2014, Artium Museoa), "Bi/Dos/Two" (2018, Azkuna Zentroa-Alhóndiga Bilbao), and "Hamairu" (2022, Tabakalera). For the 2026 event, at least eight selected artists will enjoy a three-month residency from July to October, with access to the industrial facility and its surroundings. Participants will receive €1,500 and potential housing. The jury comprises Eremuak's technical committee—Iñaki Garmendia, Raúl Domínguez, Olatz Otalora—and external guest Chus Martínez, associate curator at TBA21 in Madrid. Artists will participate in a five-day workshop led by Leire Vergara and Snejanka Mihaylova from July 27–31. Applications, including a motivation letter, a recent work dossier (maximum 15 pages), and a CV, must be submitted by July 5, 2026. A publication related to the exhibition is expected in 2027.
