Ensemble Design Studio Launches with Scottsdale Hotel and Boston Restaurant Projects

architecture-design · 2026-04-01

Ensemble, a new hospitality design studio, has been established by five industry professionals: Scott Miller (formerly global director of AvroKO), Nicole Campion (design director at Auberge Resort Collection), Chris Johnson (former design lead for Union Square Hospitality Group), Candice Hickman (ex-design director of the Americas for Soho House), and Andrés Lamos (previously with AvroKO and firms like Pelli Clarke Pelli and Meyer Davis). The studio operates from New York, Los Angeles, and Palm Beach. Their inaugural projects include The Paradise Valley Hotels & Casitas, a 90-key boutique hotel in Scottsdale scheduled to open in 2027. Described as a contemporary interpretation of Southwestern ranch living, the design emphasizes low-slung architecture, indoor-outdoor connections, and desert-inspired luxury. Another project is a new restaurant by A-Street Hospitality at the Four Seasons Hotel Boston, facing the Boston Public Garden. Designed by Lamos, the restaurant draws inspiration from Frederick Law Olmsted's Emerald Necklace parks, incorporating natural materials and autumnal color palettes. The concept also references retro-future transit aesthetics, particularly Orient Express trains, creating a series of interconnected spaces. Eric Papachristos, Co-Founder & CEO of A Street Hospitality, emphasized the goal of creating a refined dining destination for Boston's Back Bay neighborhood. Miller highlighted that Ensemble aims to address a perceived lack of originality in luxury hospitality by fostering collaborative, site-specific design approaches distinct from algorithmic trends.
