Emirates introduces U-Dream headrest for economy class sleep comfort

Emirates has initiated the rollout of the U-Dream Headrest throughout its fleet, a versatile leather headrest aimed at providing support for the head and neck during sleep. The airline asserts that it is the first globally to offer such a feature, which is being installed on Economy Class seats across all Emirates A350s, the majority of Airbus A380s, and Boeing 777s, as well as on 270 Boeing 777X aircraft on order. Currently, three A350s are equipped with this innovation, with the entire A350 fleet expected to be completed by the end of 2025. Retrofitting for A380s and 777s is set to commence in 2027. The U-Dream, part of the Z400 seat by Safran Seats, is designed with leather padding and adjustable wings for personalized support. It meets European Union Aviation Safety Agency standards and crew members are trained to assist passengers. Tim Clark, president of Emirates Airline, emphasized that this design offers ergonomic benefits typically found in premium cabins. This initiative is part of Emirates’ broader strategy to improve economy class, which already features widebody aircraft, mood lighting, large screens, complimentary meals, amenity kits, family services, and the ice entertainment system with over 6,500 channels. Additionally, Starlink will be available across the fleet for in-flight streaming and browsing.
