Elisava's Graphic Design Master's Program Emphasizes Social Impact Through Student Projects

Elisava Barcelona School of Design and Engineering has showcased the 2026 graduate projects from its Master's in Graphic Design, highlighting a curriculum focused on societal and cultural contributions. The program, established over six decades ago, encourages students to explore authorship and self-awareness in their work, integrating traditional skills like typography with experimental methods. Projects were presented at a public exhibition, featuring diverse approaches such as the Cloud Watching Society by Amaya and Ángela, which promotes cloud-watching as a counter to digital productivity through branded merchandise and publications. Another project, Heroes of Petanca by Jan Sobyra and Gonçalo Salgado, reinterprets the traditional game Petanca as a communal sport with a kinetic identity and event programming to foster cross-generational engagement in Barcelona. Badroom, by Inés Acero, Marta Celso, and Camilla Vittozzi, addresses housing issues for young renters with practical guides and a community-led, ironic tone. Al Barri, created by Aina Eguiluz and Federico Sánchez, develops a public identity for a neighborhood to protest over-gentrification using accessible design tools. These projects exemplify the program's emphasis on investigative, socially-aware design that blends experimentation with reflection, aiming to influence the creative industry's future.
