El Departamento Designs Nude Project's Berlin Flagship Store Inspired by 1970s Nightlife

Architecture studio El Departamento has created the Berlin flagship store for streetwear brand Nude Project, drawing inspiration from the city's 1970s nightclub culture. Located at Alte Schönhauser Straße 28, the 135-square-meter retail space features a scenographic design that translates Berlin's historical club scene into architectural form. Led by architects Alberto Eltini and Marina Martín, the project employs a layered material palette including burl wood, velvet upholstery, patterned carpets, and theatrical lighting to create a visually charged environment. The store is organized as a sequence of themed rooms—Main Lounge, The Library, and The Forbidden Room—each with distinct visual identities that reference nightlife interiors. This approach moves away from minimalist retail aesthetics, instead using lighting, sound systems, and furniture as active spatial components to shape visitor experience and frame the brand's clothing collections.
