Ekow Nimako's Black LEGO Sculptures Explore Afrofuturism and Diaspora Myths

Ghanaian-Canadian artist Ekow Nimako creates Afrofuturistic sculptures using thousands of black LEGO bricks, exploring African diaspora legends and folklore. His recent collection draws inspiration from ceremonial masks, interstellar travel, and geometric forms. Works from his series 'Building Black AMORPHIA: Spiritual Starships' are currently exhibited at Harbourfront Centre in Toronto as part of the ZUUMBA 365 program celebrating Black culture, running through August 31. Nimako recently installed a public piece titled 'Children of the Rouge Valley' at the Rouge Valley Community Recreation Centre in Scarborough, Ontario, and is preparing another installation for a Canadian university campus.
