Edo Costantini's Winter Solstice Exhibition at Praxis Gallery Explores Latency Through Bronze Sculptures and Multimedia

Praxis Gallery in New York presents 'Winter Solstice: Seeds of Nothingness,' an exhibition by Argentine artist Edo Costantini in collaboration with Delfina Braun and Delfina Muniz Barreto. The show features photography, sculpture, sound, and moving image works exploring seasonal transformation rhythms, focusing on latency, suspension, and persistence beyond the visible. Costantini's decade-long practice of walking through Katonah forests informs photographic series capturing subtle landscape variations. Bronze sculptures of seeds and fungi, cast from specimens collected in northern New York State, transform seasonal objects into durable forms through material choice. These sculptures were first presented in 2025 at Brazil's Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Niterói (MAC). Curated by Micaela Vindman, the exhibition includes musical compositions and video pieces by Costantini that create spatial continuity with field recordings from photographed locations. The installation reconfigures stillness as an active condition where life reorganizes in darkness, examining underground fungal networks and root systems that maintain circulation during winter months. Braun's drawings translated into bronze through collaboration with Muniz Barreto complement the sculptural elements. The exhibition runs until May 2, 2026 at Praxis Gallery's 501 W 20th Street location in New York.
