Edith Baumann's Meditations at Parrasch Heijnen Gallery

Parrasch Heijnen gallery in Los Angeles is presenting 'Edith Baumann: Meditations,' the gallery's third solo exhibition with the artist. Baumann (b. 1948, Ames, IA) has developed a fifty-year practice exploring perceptions of field and the presence of the hand. Her paintings examine the interplay between structure and color, and the visual tension between asymmetrical forms. The new works aim to capture the intangible space between physical fields, described as 'the poetry between the lines.' In 'Energy Field No. 7' (2026), Baumann juxtaposes two temporalities: the slow, meditative application of solid color fields and the rapid, emotional freehand linework. The exhibition runs from March 15 to April 26, 2025.
