Dubbeldam Architecture + Design Completes Off-Grid Cardwell Clubhouse in 2025
Dubbeldam Architecture + Design, led by Heather Dubbeldam, has completed the Cardwell Clubhouse, a 151-square-meter off-grid hybrid structure finished in 2025. Located adjacent to a photovoltaic array that powers the main cottage on the property, the building serves as a central social and activity hub for an outdoors-oriented family. Designed by a team including Andrew Snow and Krystal Kramer, the clubhouse combines a multipurpose room that can function as a guest suite with a garage for storing recreational equipment. The facility supports various activities such as racquet sports, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. An outdoor court nearby accommodates tennis, basketball, and pickleball, while additional areas are designated for bocce, horseshoes, and children's games. Structural engineering was handled by Blackwell Structural Engineers, with Thomas J Stead Construction serving as the general contractor. The project utilizes products from manufacturers including Lutron, Caesarstone, and Kolbe Windows & Doors. Photographs of the completed work were taken by Riley Snelling, and the project was curated by Susanna Moreira. This residential architecture project emphasizes utility and leisure, reinforcing its role as a gathering destination for active pursuits in a natural setting.
