Dr. Maria Geyman Discusses Debut Book 'With Tea' and the Family Rituals Behind Masha Tea

Dr. Maria Geyman, a naturopathic physician and the founder of Masha Tea, has released her first book, *With Tea*, which delves into the cultural, historical, and self-care aspects of tea. In a conversation with Surface, Geyman reminisces about her childhood experiences with tea in her grandmother Babushka Rita's apartment in South Brooklyn. Her family, originally from Kyiv, sent tea sets ahead during their immigration to New York. The book features chapters on global tea traditions, personal rituals, and health benefits, alongside a comprehensive herbal guide that required thorough research. Geyman explored Eastern European tea history, including the story of Russian Caravan tea. Initially an art project, Masha Tea gained fame through a Vogue gift guide, leading Geyman to concentrate on tea and writing, highlighting the importance of intentional cultivation.
