Donatella Spaziani's First Major Chinese Exhibition Opens in Chongqing

Italian artist Donatella Spaziani presents her first major exhibition in China, titled 'Incolume tra le cose,' at the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute Art Museum in Chongqing. The show opened on March 14, 2026, and runs until April 19, 2026. It features over 100 works including drawings, collages, self-portraits, installations, wallpaper, and sound art, tracing her creative process. The exhibition is promoted by the Italian Embassy in China and the Italian Consulate General in Chongqing, organized by the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute and the Zerynthia association, with support from the Fine Arts Academies of Florence and Frosinone. Spaziani's site-specific practice explores the body as a fragile measure of space, with a delicate mark and philosophy of silence that resonates in the Chinese context. Museum director He Guiyan noted her art uses tranquility as a fulcrum and the body as a means to explore space, memory, and existence, blending Eastern 'empty space' wisdom with Western fluid lines. The central hall is conceived as a piazza for thought and listening, reactivating the itinerant project 'La voce dei poeti' with a new edition featuring ancient Chinese poetry voiced by ordinary people. Spaziani explains her work invites slowing down and listening to small things.
