Diva Smith: Preschool Teacher by Day, Pop Star by Night

Diva Smith, daughter of Tears for Fears' Curt Smith, releases her debut EP 'Sunny Surrender', blending diaristic songwriting with pop production in a genre she calls 'therapy pop'. The Los Angeles-raised, New York-based singer-songwriter balances her music career with work as a preschool teacher. The EP explores themes of anxiety turning into enthusiasm, inspired by a leap of faith into a trusting relationship. Smith built anticipation by touring with Carol Ades and opening for Holly Humberstone, whose fan-centric approach impressed her. She studied journalism, psychology, and music production at NYU before transferring into the music school. The EP's bunny motif references a stuffed bunny her father brought from London when she was three. Smith collaborated with photographer Nina Ljeti on the 'Still the Kid' video, which involved wearing a bunny costume in New York City.
