Designer's £137k Diamond Watch Cut from Wrist in Mayfair Robbery

In a London court, it was revealed that Romanian fashion designer Catalin Botezatu, known for hosting Romania's Next Top Model, was robbed of a diamond-encrusted Richard Mille watch worth over £137,000 (€160,000) outside a Mayfair restaurant. The robbery took place on 28 January shortly before midnight after Botezatu exited the Latin American eatery Amazonico in Berkeley Square. Two suspects, Ali Eldahouzze, 22, and Abdel El Habchi, 30, each deny a single charge of robbery, while a third individual, Younes Djoudi, has confessed. During the proceedings at Southwark Crown Court, the prosecution noted that Botezatu suffered cuts to his wrists, suggesting the rubber strap was severed with a knife. Barrister Arizuna Asante detailed how Djoudi passed by Botezatu at around 22:15 GMT before returning with the other two men, indicating they were assessing both the restaurant and Botezatu. The trial is ongoing.
