Designer Andrew Torrey's Midtown Office Doubles as Personal Art Gallery

American designer Andrew Torrey's Midtown office is so densely packed with contemporary art that visitors might mistake it for a gallery. Entering his 12th year in business, Torrey describes his work as a dream job. His collection includes a monumental Jack Pierson digital acrylic lacquer on canvas that greets visitors, a Daniel Arsham sculptural head of Hermès, and a portrait by Gregor Hildebrandt constructed from cassette cases incorporating Torrey's favorite music. He owns works by Wolfgang Tillmans, Robert Loughlin, Jeremy Demester, and Sam Falls, alongside African sculptures and a Jean Cocteau drawing. Torrey's wish list features James Turrell, Joan Mitchell, Robert Nava, and Adam Pendleton. He recently acquired a large work by Spanish painter Secundino Hernandez that currently lacks wall space. The designer emphasizes creating an inspiring environment for his team with an ever-evolving library and art-covered walls. Photographer Manolo Yllera documented the space.
