Designer Alberto Molina Creates Twelve Typefaces in Year-Long FontMonth Project

In 2025, designer Alberto Molina initiated FontMonth, a personal project to develop a new typeface each month for a full year. The endeavor served as an experimental laboratory for exploring typographic creation, moving beyond commercial goals to investigate letterform construction, technical constraints, and expressive possibilities. Molina produced twelve distinct typefaces including Sira, Agulla, Frannie, Nowhere, Halone, Unstop, Evertimes, Fina, and Rush, each with unique inspirations ranging from structural systems and stencil logic to Spanish road signage, grandmother's handwritten recipes, and physical paint roller textures. He documented the process through a monthly newsletter, sharing sketches and revisions. The project culminated in over two thousand glyphs and deepened Molina's understanding of type design as both discipline and creative expression, with his work continuing at the Errea studio in Pamplona.
