Sofia Lekka Angelopoulou inaugurated designboom's SPECTATOR AND SPECTACLE chapter with an editorial named The Haçienda Must Be Built, raising the question of whether audiences lack access to spectacle. In collaboration with SolidNature, the chapter included interviews and essays discussing how architecture, art, fashion, and design can reignite a sense of wonder. John Leo Gillen delved into the architecture of nightclubs; Łukasz Twarkowski combined theater with cinema; Dennis Vanderbroeck analyzed spatial design; photographers David Altrath and François Prost investigated spectacle in architectural contexts. A historical overview traced nightlife architecture from Italy's 1960s discotheques to New York's Studio 54 and Berlin's Berghain. Leda Papaconstantinou reflected on the Spetses Players, while Alejandro G.
