Denver Art Museum Adds 830 Works to Collection with Focus on Diversity

The Denver Art Museum in Colorado has acquired 830 artworks across its 11 curatorial departments over the past year, with a stated goal of broadening the diversity of its holdings. Among the contemporary additions are pieces by Tishan Hsu and Jackie Amézquita, as well as works by artists who had solo shows at the institution in 2025, including Dawoud Bey and Kent Monkman. Historical acquisitions feature Berthe Morisot's 1886 painting 'La Leçon au jardin' and a version of Camille Claudel's sculpture 'Rêve au coin du feu' from around 1899-1905. The museum's photography collection grew by 133 works, including Polaroids by György Kepes, while the architecture and design department obtained 35 objects, such as furniture by Monica Curiel and Kim Mupangilaï. Other notable pieces include a 1969 painting by Jesús Rafael Soto, a bamboo tray by Iizuka Shōkansai, and a 1925 landscape by Maynard Dixon.
