Delphine Bonnet's 'Lala, je te vois où que tu sois' Chronicles Mother Nicole Lala's Photography

publication · 2026-09-09

On October 7, 2026, French art director and graphic designer Delphine Bonnet will release 'Lala, je te vois où que tu sois', a book that brings to light the photographic work of her mother, Nicole Lala. The publication, prefaced by Marie Robert, curator of photography at the Musée d'Orsay, combines autobiographical narrative with a selection of Lala's photographs taken from the 1950s to the 1980s. Nicole Lala worked as a photographer-reporter for the communist magazine REGARDS and as a set photographer, capturing French cinema icons such as Alain Resnais and Jeanne Moreau. The book also features intimate portraits of Delphine herself, from her birth to age 26. Delphine Bonnet, a graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, has harbored the desire to share her mother's work since she was 13. Marie Robert, who also co-directed 'Une histoire mondiale des femmes photographes' (Textuel, 2020) and spent a year at the Villa Médicis in 2023, provides the preface. The book is described as a 'coup de cœur' and reveals the exceptional work of a previously unknown photographer.
