Dèlio Jasse's 'The Angolan File' Opens at AF Gallery in Bologna Through April 2026

AF Gallery has launched a new venue in Bologna with an exhibition by Angolan artist Dèlio Jasse, curated by Marco Scotini. Titled 'The Angolan File: oro e memoria,' the show runs until April 18, 2026, at Via San Petronio Vecchio 13. Jasse, born in Luanda in 1980 and based in Milan, repurposes archival photographs from Angola's colonial era, applying gold leaf to obscure and highlight details. The images depict urban scenes, extractive industries, and portraits of anonymous locals and Europeans, reflecting on colonial legacies. Jasse's practice involves rescuing these pictures from discard, enlarging them, and transforming them through material intervention. He participated in Angola's national pavilion at the 2015 Venice Biennale under Okwui Enwezor and has exhibited widely in Europe. AF Gallery, active since 2018, typically focuses on established Italian artists but here presents a divergent name, signaling expanded horizons.
