Delaware Art Museum and Nanticoke Indian Museum Collaborate on Indigenous-Focused Exhibition

The Delaware Art Museum, in collaboration with the Nanticoke Indian Museum, is presenting a significant exhibition titled Living Indigenous. This showcase will be available for public viewing from February 28 to August 23, 2026. The project aims to highlight the artistic expressions and lived realities of Indigenous creators with ties to Delaware and other regions. It emphasizes cultural stories connected to Turtle Island, a term referencing North America used by numerous Indigenous communities. The exhibition will occupy a specific gallery dedicated to Indigenous artists, with additional pieces, documents, and artifacts displayed across five other museum galleries. Accompanying events include the 5th Annual Powwow of Arts and Culture, guided tours, lectures, enhanced educational programs for schools, and interpretive resources designed to elevate Indigenous perspectives. This initiative represents a concerted effort to center Indigenous narratives in a museum setting through artistic presentation and community engagement.
