December 2025 Contemporary Art Exhibitions Across Italy

Several significant contemporary art exhibitions are currently on view across Italy through early 2026. At Bologna's Museo Civico Archeologico, 'Graphic Japan. Da Hokusai ai Manga' presents Japanese visual culture from Edo-period ukiyo-e prints to contemporary manga, organized into four thematic sections exploring nature, faces and masks, typography, and modern Japonisme. The exhibition runs until April 6, 2026. Artist Nicola Samorì's 'Classical Collapse' features over fifty works displayed alongside historical pieces from museum collections, first at Milan's Pinacoteca Ambrosiana until January 13, 2026, then at Naples's Museo e Real Bosco di Capodimonte through March 1, 2026. Siena's Palazzo delle Papesse hosts a retrospective of advertising pioneer Armando Testa titled 'Cucù Tetè' until May 3, 2026, showcasing his iconic campaigns alongside installations and multimedia works. At Cremona's deconsecrated Chiesa di San Carlo, Massimo Bartolini's '100 giorni' transforms the nave into a labyrinthine installation incorporating a large Sicilian light structure and rediscovered prison inscriptions, on view until January 16, 2026. Villa Manin in Passariano, Udine, presents 'Confini. Da Turner a Monet a Hopper. Canto con variazioni,' featuring over one hundred 19th- and 20th-century works exploring themes of boundaries and transitions by artists including Turner, Monet, Van Gogh, Munch, Hopper, Mondrian, and Rothko, continuing until April 12, 2026.
