De Beers and Sotheby's announced the auction of a previously unseen diamond called The Jwaneng 28.88. The gem, weighing 28.88 carats with flawless D-color quality, originated from Botswana's Jwaneng Mine. It will be offered at Sotheby's High Jewelry sale in Hong Kong on April 23, with an expected price between $2.2 and $2.8 million. The announcement coincided with the release of De Beers's commemorative art book marking its centennial. An exhibition curated by Sophie Oppenheimer at the book launch explored connections between diamonds and artistic expression.
